Fishing Boat sinks off Stewart Island

Incident Type: Fishing Boat sinks off Stewart Island
At approximately 6.30pm this evening a fifty foot fishing vessel went down in Foveaux Strait near Womens Island east of Stewart Island.
There were nine people on board. Three people have been accounted for and six remain missing.
An extensive search will continue throughout the night.
Ther are 16 vessels along with two helicopters, which include local Bluff vessels, the Riverton Coast Guard, and Bluff Coast Guard.
A further update will be made at 7am Sunday morning.
