Man Charged With Murder Of Woman In Silverdale

Police investigating the death of a woman in Silverdale have today formally charged a 54 year old local man with murder, kidnapping, and injuring with intent to injure.
The man, who is in police custody, and under guard at North Shore Hospital, is likely to appear before a special court hearing. This will be convened at Hospital on Tuesday.
Police launched a homicide investigation on Good Friday afternoon, after the body of 50 year old Suzanne Marie McSweeney, was found at an address in Anvil Road, in the industrial sector of Silverdale. Silverdale is about 30 kilometres north of Auckland.
Investigators completed their forensic examination of the address this afternoon.
The investigation is far from complete and ongoing enquiries will be continuing throughout the week. No other person is being sought by Police in this investigation.
Police wish to express their appreciation to the Silverdale and Orewa community for their co-operation and assistance to investigators over duration of the Easter holidays.
This matter is now sub judice.
Police will not be making any further comment on this investigation at this time.
