Defence Force Chief Orders Review of Ammunition and Weapon Procedures
The Defence Force is fully investigating any link to the military ammunition and items found at an address in Christchurch, after an Army explosive ordinance disposal team was called to an incident in support of New Zealand Police on 11-12 April.
Defence spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mike Shatford, said, “The Chief of Defence Force has ordered a defence wide review to determine if there is a military link to the case. As a precaution Defence will also review its weapons and ammunition accounting procedures”.
A quantity of small arms military style ammunition and items was found at the scene. The matter is now before the courts and no further comment will be made on the specifics of the case.
