Busted Black Power Crime Ring Should Be A Warning To The Extent Of Criminal Offending
"The Association congratulates South Auckland Police on the hard work that resulted in the bust of an organised crime ring run by the Black Power gang yesterday. It exposes the extent of offending and the amount of money these organised crime groups are making from preying on the more vulnerable," said Greg O'Connor, President of the NZ Police Association today.
"This is just one gang of many and some more sophisticated than this one," said Greg O'Connor. "Police need the resources to continue to hammer every criminal gang in NZ, in a similar way every year, not every five or ten years. We need to be able to deal not just the first blow, but a second and a third, until we deal a mortal blow."
"We need a co-ordinated approach across the community to ensure gangs are not an attractive option or role models for our young, including banning gang patches and seizing assets."
