Event organisers encouraged to start planning now for Children’s Day 2007
Around this time next year children all over New Zealand will be telling their friends stories about all the fun they
had on Children’s Day! Children’s Day will now be on the first Sunday of March, starting in 2007.
Now is the time to start planning 2007 events. Local Councils, schools, early childhood centres, service clubs,
community organisations, clubs and groups, and any other groups interested in creating a fun event for children on 4
March 2007 are encouraged to start working on an action plan.
There will be no Children’s Day this year. The date has been changed from the last Sunday in October to the first Sunday
in March in order to avoid Labour Weekend and a busy time of year and hopefully experience more settled weather.
It is hoped that the change of date will increase the number of organisers, participants and activities, resulting in a
national community-focussed day that is bigger than ever.
If you need advice on sponsorship or organising an event call 0800 10 33 22 or email givingtime@childrensday.org.nz. For
