Well trained Navy ship returns home
Frigate HMNZS TE KAHA returns to Auckland on Friday 10 March after a six week intensive training deployment off the East
Coast of Australia.
She will enter Auckland Harbour at 7.30am, proceeding to Kauri Point Armament Depot, before berthing at Devonport Naval
Base at 4.00pm.
TE KAHA's deployment culminated in an arduous 36-hour Unit Readiness Evaluation on 1-2 March, a period designed to test
the knowledge and skills of the 177 officers and ratings onboard in a variety of scenarios. TE KAHA achieved a Standard
Achieved grade, which indicates a high level of proficiency and professionalism from those onboard.
Working off the East Coast of Australia, TE KAHA participated in two annual exercises- TASMANEX and Ex Ocean Protector-
during her deployment. She worked alongside sister ship HMNZS TE MANA, two Royal New Zealand Air Force P3-K aircraft, up
to 11 Australian ships, one submarine and multiple aircraft of the Australian Defence Force.
TE KAHA returns to Auckland for a scheduled maintenance period.
