Search continues
The search for missing overseas woman tramper continues with two dog teams and four other teams in the area this morning, a total of about 12.
Sergeant Peter Summerfield says that given the good weather since Saturday and that there have been a lot of people in the area over the weekend, there are concerns for her safety.
Given out previously A search and rescue operation has commenced at Arthurs Pass for a female overseas tourist who has been reported missing. She is believed to be aged in her 50`s and may have been missing for up to 48 hours. She had been tramping in the area. However, her disappearance was not discovered until Sunday afternoon. An initial ground search located her pack on the Mount Aicken track at a height of approximately 1700 metres. A helicopter sweep of the area was carried out with negative result. The search will resume tomorrow Monday with SAR personnel and Dogs.

Name of missing woman
The name of the woman missing in the Arthurs Pass area is Elizabeth Margaret Thomson, aged 55 of Kent, England.
There is still no sighting of her.
