Former LGNZ National Councillors appointed to Local Government Commission
Local Government New Zealand congratulates two of its former National Councillors who have recently been appointed as members of the Local Government Commission.
The new Chair of the Local Government Commission, Sue Piper, is a former Wellington City Councillor and new member of the Local Government Commission, Wynne Raymond, has previously served four consecutive terms as the Mayor of Timaru.
“The time both Sue and Wynne served on Local Government New Zealand’s National Council will help ensure that they have a detailed and extensive understanding of local government issues,” said Basil Morrison, President of Local Government New Zealand.
Mr Morrison said he was pleased two people with such excellent experience and knowledge of the local government sector had been selected to play a pivotal role in local governance.
“I wish both Sue and Wynne well in their new roles as members of the Local Government Commission and look forward to working with them in the future.”
