PSA strike action prohibited
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry said it was relieved at today’s decision by the Employment Court granting an
injunction to prohibit a strike by the PSA, scheduled for Friday 2 November 2005.
“MAF is hopeful that today’s Court decision will give MAF and The PSA more time to settle this matter,” MAF’s Quarantine
Service general manager Ken Harris said.
“MAF will be notifying all organisations that were potentially affected by the planned strike to tell them that normal
services will apply on Friday. We are grateful for the support we have been given over the past week since we received
the PSA’s strike notice and the efforts many organisations have gone to in assisting us with our contingency planning.
“There are still some legal matters to be resolved by the Employment Relations Authority. But our objective now is to
work with the PSA to develop a mutually agreeable outcome to the collective employment agreement,” Ken Harris said.
