Minister Meets The Army's Silver Warriors
Defence Minister Phil Goff made his first official visit to meet with the Army in the field today when he flew in to Exercise Silver Warrior, currently underway in the lower central North Island.
Exercise Silver Warrior allowed the Minister to see 1st Battalion, the Army's motorised battalion, being put through its paces during the largest Army exercise to be held for some years.
During his visit the Minister was shown all elements of the motorised battalion, including one of the NZLAV companies on task in Lake Alice, and the extensive logistic support deployed to sustain the battalion throughout the exercise. The Minister shared lunch with the soldiers in the field.
The Minister was flown to and from the exercise in an Royal New Zealand Air Force Iroquois.
