PRESS RELEASE
Reliable new source of information on the Future of Energy
Futures Thinking Aotearoa, the independent, Wellington based, futures think tank, has released a new website www.newzealandenergy.org in order to provide thinking New Zealanders with an unbiased source of information regarding all aspects of energy that will affect how New Zealanders live in the future.
Launching the website at the recent AGM Chairperson Robin Gunston said, "This marks a significant milestone in the organisation's 23 year history; not since the "2025" website, put up in 2000, have Futures Thinking Aotearoa embarked on such an important and sizeable project".
Energy Group convenor Mike Gould spoke of the highly knowledgeable team of energy experts put together to process and validate all the information sources currently used and of the interest that has arisen from both NZ and overseas parties which has started a dialogue about where the energy scene is going.
" With this project now well on its way" said Robin Gunston, " credible information is now available for New Zealanders to engage with the societal issues that changes in energy use, energy forms and energy transformation will bring to our long term future".
"The hope is that during 2006 we will be able to pull together an independent, well informed public series of energy related seminars across New Zealand, that will start to address the bigger issues about our lifestyle, and the sort of economy that could be achievable given the various futures that may eventuate. We are looking for partners who will assist us in this process, as we believe that an informed New Zealand will be better prepared to make lasting changes."
