POLICE ASSOCIATION ENCOURAGED BY APPOINTMENT OF HIGH-RANKING CABINET MINISTER
AND PROVEN PERFORMER TO MINISTER OF POLICE
"The Police Association are encouraged by the appointment of Hon Annette King, a high ranking Cabinet Minister and proven performer, to Minister of Police," NZ Police Association President, Mr O'Connor said today.
"The Minister inherits a much healthier portfolio than her predecessor, Hon George Hawkins did. This, combined with the NZ First promoted promise of 1000 extra Police Officers in the next 3 budget years and a sworn police officer to population ratio comparable with that of Australia by 2010, sets the environment to deliver a vastly improved Police service to the public, " said Mr O'Connor.
"The Association will work with the Minister to recruit and retain Police Officers and we believe that the next three years will be very good ones for Police and the law abiding public - not so good for the criminals."
