Keepleftnz.Org Declares Victory, Heads for Bar.
With confirmation of the left’s victory in the election, the creators of keepleftnz.org have decided to relocate themselves from cyberspace to the bar, awarding themselves a three-year drinking fellowship in recognition of their contribution to the LPG victory.
“The left won, and our work here is done” exclaimed Ringo, betraying his penchant for low quality rhymes.
“We’ll leave the site up for a few more days, so people can download the favourite vids and treasure them” said a teary-eyed Paul, adding “I love our stuff so much it is so hard to see it go, but I know it will live on in people’s memories and hard-drives forever.”
Keepleftnz leaves the Kiwi blogosphere, at least for now, safe in the knowledge that Russell Brown and his Public Address collaborators, Jordan Carter of Just Left, the Greens’ Frogblog, and Idiot/Savant of No Right Turn are more than capable of dealing with the motley crew of right-wing bloggers crawling around the web.
“These other left bloggers’ hearts are in the right place. Sure, they’re all worthy and serious and such, and they don’t make with the gags or the slander or the cutting-edge vids or the competitions that we have, but they’ll learn. They’ll lighten up” said John.
“We may be at the bar for a while, but in 2008 we’ll awake from our drunken slumber and ruthlessly pillory whichever empty suit the Tories elect as their next leader. They can count on that” said Yoko in a menacing tone.
“Yeah, like she said” added George meekly.
The creators of keepleftnz.org want to thank the other lefty bloggers for plugging their stuff during the election campaign, Molesworth and Featherston for having such an easily-bettered poll of polls, and the millions of loyal readers and contributors who made the site so rewarding to produce.
They would also like to advise that they will not be standing for cabinet.
