El Salvador disaster Christian World Service (CWS) has launched an emergency appeal for El Salvador as partner groups call for help.
Central America has been devastated by Hurricane Stan, which has caused massive mudslides and extensive damage in Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras and El Salvador. El Salvador has also faced volcanic eruption.
CWS has a long-term partner in El Salvador, now working to help the more than 50,000 people affected by these catastrophes and will direct Central American relief to their programmes.
CWS partner Las Dignas (Women for Dignity and Life) is supplying food, medicines and clothing. They say the situation is desperate. CWS has been funding for Las Dignas for over 10 years, including their emergency relief for the victims of a massive earthquake 5 years ago. Many communities have never fully recovered and need urgent assistance to recover from the latest two natural disasters.
Donations may be sent by credit card, phone 0800 74 73 72 or to PO Box 22652, Christchurch or online www.cws.org.nz
