JOHAN NORBERG speaks on: 'The Wealth of Generations: Capitalism and the Belief in the Future'

Creative individuals in free societies have given us a whole new world. By any measure—wealth, health, happiness, the
environment—we are the most enviable generation ever. And globalisation means that poor countries also gain access to
this world. Yet, criticism of capitalism is as persistent as ever, and people continue to think that the good old days
are behind us. Johan Norberg will elucidate his ideas on the ‘Wealth of Generations’ — the ways that capitalism and free
individuals in liberal societies are restoring the belief in the future.
Johan Norberg is the author of the award-winning book In Defence of Global Capitalism (2001) and head of political ideas
at Swedish free market think tank, Timbro. Norberg is one of the most exciting and insightful thinkers to emerge in
recent times. He is the leader in a new generation of political thinkers, with a deep understanding of globalisation and
its relationship to success in both national and corporate contexts.

The John Bonython Lectures have built a reputation in Australia as one of the most important public events on the
calendar. This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the Lecture in Australia and we are pleased to present this event for
the first time in New Zealand. Norberg is an engaging speaker and it will be a most stimulating and enjoyable evening.
