Orauta Holds Off Ministry Thugs
"Orauta School remain defiant in the face of Hard Labour's eviction notice, and Libertarianz will keep fighting for their right to educate their children as they see fit," said Peter Osborne, Libertarianz Spokesman to Deregulate Education today.
Northland District Court Judge Thomas Everitt told Orauta parents and trustees last week that the occupiers of the school were to be evicted by 3:00 PM yesterday. "Luckily for the school, the eviction has been delayed awaiting following an injunction granted in favour of the occupants."
"We have news for Judge Everitt and the tyrannical Ministry of Education. Regardless of the final decision, the members of Orauta School are staying put and we will stand with them."
He says, "This is a disgraceful state of events. The school has the full support of the community. Parents are sending their children to Orauta because THEY see a value in doing so for their children, and just as importantly they are not burdening the taxpayer. Dictator Mallard and the ministry however, are so embroiled in their own self importance that they can't bring themselves to allow people, families and communities to make their own decisions."
"This whole episode is symptomatic of small men with small minds whose lives are so insignificant that they can't help but stick their noses into other people's lives. Trevor Mallard himself has no bottom line. He sees the Orauta situation as a threat to his control and thus he has no compunction about destroying lives and communities in order to maintain that control."
Osborne continues, "This is a classic example of why the state and education must be separated completely.
It is insane that the future of every child in New Zealand should be at the mercy of whoever happens to be in power on the day. Libertarianz understand that a parent's right to decide where their child should be educated, must be defended and that this is none of the states business. We also know that teachers are far better at deciding how children should be taught.
If the education industry was left alone to evolve, parents and pupils would have an ever increasing educational choice at their disposal. Sadly however, we are all forced to pay three times more than we should, for a stagnant dog of a system, which only serves to keep us under state control."
He concludes, "Libertarianz will dump the Ministry of Education and the rest of its jackbooted offshoots. This would take less than one term in government. At the end of which, people would realise the insanity we have been forced to endure for generations. How New Zealand votes this weekend will show just how free thinking we are. I won't hold my breath however, as free thinking has never been a part of the state curriculum."
