Deplorable behaviour from Tizard at local meeting
“Judith Tizard should be ashamed of her deplorable and arrogant behaviour”, said Dr Jackie Blue, National candidate for
Mt Roskill, after Tizard stormed out of a public meeting because there were no media present.
The public meeting took place on Sunday 3pm at Forde’s Frontbench, a politically oriented pub on Anzac Ave in Auckland
City. All major parties except the Green Party were present.
“Ms Tizard arrived late, which was a bad start. But once Thomas Forde, the owner of the pub announced that no media were
present, Ms Tizard started to show some unbelievable arrogance,” said Dr Blue.
“Ms Tizard interjected and asked what the point of her being there when no media was present. However, all names were
put into a hat and hers was drawn first. She took the podium and asked how many undecided voters there were,” said Dr
Blue.
“When she saw that there were only a couple of undecided voters in the crowd of 50+ people, she said that she had better
things to do like hold some impromptu street corner meetings in Pt Chevalier. She then proceeded to leave the stage, and
the crowd erupted into boos and calls of ‘arrogance’ and ‘shame’ from the crowd. She left the stage to Stuart Nash, who
then had to rescue Labour from the PR problem Tizard dropped them into. Tizard obviously realized she made a mistake,
because despite her urgent need for street corner meetings, she stayed at the back of the hall to listen to Nash,” said
Dr Blue.
“I, like everyone else present, was appalled with Judith Tizard’s arrogance and contempt for local meetings. If you give
a commitment to attend, then you do so, and you represent your party with pride. You don’t storm off in a huff because
you think you are more important than those who came to listen to you,” said Dr Blue.
“Ms Tizard, like her Labour Party, is showing contempt and arrogance to the voters of Auckland”, said Dr Blue.
