Waiata - Koha to all Maori
A waiata donated to the Maori Party by three west Auckland rangatahi is a gift to all Maori, says Maori Party candidate Angeline Greensill.
The song, Move Forward, premiered on Maori TV’s Coast last Thursday night.
The song was donated by Ridgid, a Maori rangatahi group from west Auckland.
“The message in the wai reminds us of the hikoi and all the other awesome things going on in Maoridom right now,” said Greensill
“We thank the brothers for this contribution to te ao Maori.”
The song encourages Maori to vote and not just stand around on election day – especially younger Mâori.
It also says that Maori can be proud to be tangata whenua.
Given as a koha to the Tainui campaign committee, the groups also donated copies to all Mâori radio stations.
“We hope that our people request the song on the stations so that we can all people will be tap our feet in the lead up to the election.”
If we have enough requests we will burn further copies for sale too.
