"United Future's Hypocrisy Hits New High After Promoting Income Splitting and Adoption Rights for Gay Couples"
During the Finance Leader's debate on TV1 last night, United Future Spokesperson Gordon Copeland confirmed that his
income splitting scheme would be available for gay couples with dependent children.
"Once again this approach shows the lack of principles that United Future applies to family values," says Destiny New
Zealand's Deputy Leader and Finance Spokesperson David Jesze. "They've defined family as '2 or more people living
together' and it isn't surprising that they've now revealed another part of their family agenda - which has nothing do
with traditional family values."
Mr Jesze says United Future has backed the most anti-family and anti-business government for the last three years, and
they will continue to support it over the next three years.
"United Future has clearly moved away from traditional family values by endorsing income splitting for gay couples,"
says Mr Jesze. "Mr. Copeland went even further by adding "if they have dependent children". This could be interpreted to
mean that United Future is not necessarily opposed to providing adoption rights to gay couples. Destiny New Zealand will
provide income splitting for married couples only as marriage is the cornerstone of every family. It is the only
relationship that provides a stable environment for raising children," said Mr. Jesze.
