Prostitution Act a Disaster for South Auckland
Papatoetoe residents gathered at Hunters Corner last night to protest the dramatic increase in street prostitution in the local community.
Destiny New Zealand leader Richard Lewis, told the crowd of concerned residents that the government had opened the door by legalising soliciting and pimping through the Prostitution Act.
“What you legalise you normalise. Now we have children selling themselves on the streets for sex, this is a disgrace. The government has opened a door that we desperately need to shut,” he said.
Mr Lewis pointed out that local police were facing a frontline staffing crisis leaving the them powerless to commit resources to the escalating problem of underage prostitution, graffiti, property damage and drug dealing that accompany street prostitution.
Richard Lewis is Destiny New Zealand’s candidate for Manukau East.
