Destiny Contends for Maori Vote at Maori Expo
Destiny New Zealand leader Richard Lewis featured in a political debate at Auckland’s AUT Maori Expo today.
In the forum hosted by Willie Jackson, Lewis pointed out that Destiny New Zealand’s economic policies favouring wealth
creation through lower personal and business tax was a key to empowering Maori economic development.
“Labour’s regime of punishing success through high direct and indirect taxes is killing the potential of Maori whanau
and businesses. We desperately need change, and that will only come about with a change of leadership. Destiny New
Zealand’s Maori candidates are first class and can offer strong leadership in a centre-right environment,” said Lewis.
Destiny New Zealand’s is one of only three parties contesting all seven Maori electorates as well as many General
electorates nationwide. Its candidate for Tamaki Makaurau is Tauwehe Hemahema-Tamati, a Senior Lecturer at Auckland
University’s Faculty of Education, while Mr Lewis is contesting the electorate of Manukau.
