United Future's 'Families Commission' Threatens Parental Rights
Destiny New Zealand has questioned the 'Families Commission' support for the anti-smacking Bill put forward by Green MP
Sue Bradford.
"The anti-smacking Bill blatantly undermines parental rights and responsibilities. A repeal of Section 59 of the Crimes
Act would potentially criminalize thousands of responsible parents and tear families apart," says party leader Richard
Lewis.
Destiny New Zealand strongly opposes the repealing of Section 59 so that parents retain the right to administer proper
corrective discipline to their own children without fear of the State.
"United Future is trumpeting the Families Commission as their great achievement. Based on this situation, they've just
created another bureaucratic machine to wreak havoc on families", Lewis added.
