"Our Energy Legacy - a Dream or Reality
Ralph E H Sims
Professor of Sustainable Energy
Director, Centre for Energy Research
For over 30 years Ralph Sims has been involved with energy research at Massey University where he is Professor of Sustainable Energy and Director of the Centre for Energy Research. He is serving a third term on the Board of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority and is the New Zealand representative on the IEA's Renewable Energy Working Party.
He was a Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, 3rd Assessment Report (2001) covering energy supply, renewable energy and agriculture and has been appointed as the Co-ordinating Lead Author for the "Energy Supply" chapter of the 4th Assessment Report currently under preparation.
The presentation will cover New Zealand's potential to become the first nation to make the transition away from our dependence on coal, gas and oil and hence to significantly reduce our carbon dioxide emissions. Is it a dream or reality?
