Education - Election Bribes For Student Debt? No Chance
"While New Zealand University Student's Association (NZUSA) spokesmen Andrew Kirton and Camilla Belich are banging on at National to come clean over its tertiary education policy, we at Libertarianz have nothing to hide." This was from Peter Osborne, the Libertarianz Spokesman to Deregulate Education today.
Mr Osborne is responding to a press release issued by NZUSA showing concern over student debt.
He says, "No one forced these students to enter university. They can pay their own sodding fees, instead of expecting the seemingly bottomless pocket of the taxpayer to foot the bill."
Osborne asks, "Where is the justice in students making a choice to improve their future only to expect others to sacrifice the fruits of their time and effort to pay for it? This is the philosophy of the parasite and the freeloader. We won't have a bar of it."
"The Libertarianz policy on student debt is consistent with all of its policies across the board; the basis of which are centred around individual freedom. This is why our policies are unashamedly open on our website for all to see. No hidden agenda, no spin and no lies. We have no desire to offer tempting bribes in order to buy the vote. What you see is what you get."
He says, "Not only is our philosophy sound, it is the most practical, and student debt is no exception. Libertarianz will remove the tax burden forced on New Zealanders for educational facilities. All regulations and restrictions will be removed and the education sector will be released to the free market. In turn these facilities will not be forced to pay tax, which will reduce operation costs considerably.
This, coupled with an openly competitive market will bring the cost of education right down. When students finish their studies and enter the work place, they will find it far easier to pay off any debts that they may have incurred by the sheer fact that a libertarian government will no longer be fleecing them of their earnings."
In conclusion he says, "People have two choices this election: either several variations of compulsion being offered by the other parties, or freedom promised by Libertarianz. It's as simple as that.
