London bombings: MFAT Update 12 - 2030 8 July
There is now at least one New Zealander about whom the Ministry has serious concerns. These concerns are due to the area the person was believed to be travelling in, and lack of contact with friends and family. NZ High Commission staff in London are continuing their enquiries with local authorities.
The Ministry's website travel advisory for the United Kingdom has been revised and upgraded since the bombings, from the "some risk" to the "high risk" category. We now advise against non-essential travel to the UK. The latest advice notes that there is a heightened general and non-specific terrorist threat to the UK, with further attacks possible. New Zealanders are advised to maintain a high level of personal security and to be extra vigilant when travelling on public transport in the UK.
