Progressives: Heka Taefu Invercargill candidate
The Progressive party has selected Heka Taefu as its candidate in the Invercargill electorate in this year's general
election where he will be campaigning for party votes.
"Heka, who lives in Invercargill where he is an employment adviser, is very enthusiastic about Progressive's role inside
of the coalition government over the past five-and-a-half years promoting regional and industry development which
translates into good job opportunities for people," says deputy leader, Matt Robson MP.
"I strongly support the pro-economic development and anti-drugs policies which Jim Anderton's Progressive party has
brought to heart of Helen Clark's government," says Heka Taefu.
"My message this election is that if you support the way our government has established a New Zealand-owned Kiwibank, if
you support the way our government has introduced policies that help working families like a minimum of Four Weeks
Annual Leave and if you want these progressive policies to continue then your party vote needs to go to Progressive,"
Heka Taefu said.
"Giving your party vote to Progressive strengthens the chances of getting the type of Labour-led government that will
continue to deliver to working families," he said.
Progressive is campaigning this year on an ambitious platform that includes doubling the number of apprenticeships and
ensuring that everyone aged under 20 years is in either a job or alternatively in training. The party's student
debt-relief policy proposes to cut the debt burden of graduates in return for them commiting to use their skills working
in New Zealand after graduation.
