The information enclosed is an invitation to young Maori with leadership potential to attend the 7th Young Maori
Leaders' Conference at the Wellington Town Hall on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st June, 2005. The theme of the conference
'Ka tu ka ora! Ka noho ka mate!' encourages involvement and activism in iwi, community and national affairs by young
people in the targeted age range 20 - 40 years.

You are invited to make this information more widely available. Further you are asked to encourage potential
participants to register, and to urge employers, hapu and iwi and community organisations to support and sponsor
suitable young Maori men and women who would benefit from participation in this conference.
There are many good reasons for actively encouraging leadership potential in younger people. All organisations whether
kinship-based or based on employment and community involvement, benefit from good, sound leadership. Leadership does not
just happen; leadership has to be nurtured, developed, and encouraged. Leadership skills are transferable to employment,
to iwi organizations, to community and national organizations. We have enormous leadership potential in our younger
generations, let us ensure that they are able to develop that potential to benefit themselves, the communities in which
they live and the nation.

Maori and national leaders to attend this important hui.
