Progressive selects Debbie Lucas as Wanganui candidate
The Progressive Party has selected Debbie Lucas as its candidate in Wanganui where she will be campaigning for party
votes in this year's general election.
"I am very proud to announce that Debbie Lucas will be flying Progressive's colours in Wanganui this election. Debbie is
a first class candidate for our party and will do well raising the party vote tally for Progressive this year," says
Progressive deputy leader, Hon. Matt Robson MP.
"Debbie has a very strong commitment to early childhood education as the foundation of educational excellence. She is a
board member of the Wanganui Free Kindergarten Association and the Akoranga Childcare Centre which is aligned with UCoL
in Wanganui," Matt Robson said.
"Debbie has run her own accounts in dressmaking and tailoring and has also helped others establish efficient accounting
systems for their businesses. Committed to sustainable development and concerned about environmental issues, Debbie is
currently in her final year of her Bachelor of Applied Economics," he said.
"Progressive candidates are campaigning for peoples' party vote this year as your pro-economic development and
anti-drugs insurance policy. If you support increased investment in higher education, favour the economic development of
our regions and want politicians to take the tough decisions on youth binge drinking and other youth drug problems, then
our candidates' message is that Progressive needs your Party Vote".
Debbie Lucas lives in Waverley with her young family and is particularly keen to promote the benefits of Progressive's
graduate debt relief policy during this year's campaign. Debbie is in her final year of her Bachelor of Applied
Economics.
The Progressive Party is a partner in the coalition government first elected in 1999. Its leader, Jim Anderton, is the
third ranked Cabinet Minister with responsibility for Economic, Industry and Regional Development and the government's
campaign to reduce the harm caused by drugs.
