Strike brings bank back into negotiations
Employment agreement negotiations will recommence next Thursday and Friday between ANZ National Bank, and staff
representatives. This follows a full day of industrial action last Friday. Staff are seeking compensation for working
late hours and weekends. The Australian-owned bank already provides this compensation to its Australian staff.
“We are pleased that the bank will meet with us again, and hope that this time they will listen to their staff.” Said
Murray Scott, ANZ National Bank staff member, and union negotiator.
“Our members have shown the bank how strongly they feel and the public has shown support. Meanwhile the bank has
announced record profits.” said Karen Skinner from Finsec, the union representing bank staff. “There is no reason why
the bank shouldn’t come to the party and settle this dispute.”
Bank staff have voted to hold surprise rolling strikes around the country if there is not progress in this latest round
of negotiations.
