Navy Adventure Challenge
The Navy Recruiting Organisation is hosting a Navy Adventure Challenge that began today and will run through to Friday
22 April 2005 inclusive exposing 40 high profile students from around New Zealand to a behind the scenes insight into
Navy Careers. The aims of the Challenge are to provide each student with an insight into Navy Careers and the Navy work
environment; display a variety of activities and tasks that illustrate how the Navy is an exciting, interesting and
enjoyable place to work; provide candidates with an insight of what is required of them under training should they
decide to join either as an Officer or Rating; and provide the students with a variety of challenges to build their
confidence in a team environment.
Starting with a 'Wakey Wakey" at 0545 every morning, the many activities over the action packed week include a Powhiri
at the Te Taua Moana Marae, tours, presentations and briefings in all the Navy's Branch and Trade Training Schools,
Bridge Simulator, Damage Control (Fire and Flood), New Entry and Officer Training Schools, Sea Survival, Team Building
exercises at the Whangaparaoa Training Centre, introduction to Naval traditions, ship tour plus a visit to the Naval
Support Flight at Hobsonville. Photos and articles will be sent to the hometown papers of the students attending on
