International Women’s Day Rally and March
International Women’s Day Rally – Tuesday 8th March – 5:30pm – Aotea Square
A rally will be held in Aotea Square from 5:30pm to celebrate International Women’s Day 2005.
This event has been organised by unionists, feminists and concerned social activists to collectively address issues facing women at work and at home and celebrating our achievements.
This years focus is on affordable housing, poverty and low-paid work.
The rally at Aotea Square will include live music from all-girl indie-rock band The Coolies as well as speeches by Alliance President Jill Ovens, Sharryn Hough from Service and Food Workers Union and Golee from Students for Justice and Palestine before a march to the United States Embassy on Customs St.
The international Women’s Day Committee invites the public to come along and march in solidarity of women both on the home front and internationally.
