Search for missing aircraft
A Mountain Rescue team has joined a New Plymouth-based helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft to search for an aircraft missing in the Mount Egmont area. Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand is coordinating the search after being alerted by Christchurch Air Traffic Control.
Although the weather in the search area is fine, heavy cloud is hampering search efforts.
The missing aircraft is a Piper Seneca PA 34 and is thought to be carrying two passengers.
