West Papua Flag Raising 12 noon cnr Queen and Customs St Wednesday December 1
West Papuan people have been given an edict not to raise their beloved Morning Star flag on their "Independence Day" December 1 -anniversary of the date in 1961 when the newly elected "West New Guinea" council first raised the flag.
Then Indonesia derailed the Dutch plans for decolonisation of the territory by intervening militarily. Throughout the world the Morning Star flag will be raised on December 1 - in Auckland the flag will be on display in adjacent to the Britomart bus terminal (cnr Queen and Customs St) at 12 noon on Wednesday 1 December.
Passers by will be asked to sign solidarity messages. Similar events will be taking place in Christchurch and Wellington.

Latest crimes against the people:
Eyewitness say that in the vicinity of Mulia, in the Puncak Jaya district in West Papua's central highlands there has been a series of attacks on unarmed civilians by the heavily armed TNI. Up to 15,000 village people have now been made refugeees.
They fled into the mountains when they were strafed by machine gun fire from helicopters. Now their crop gardens are destroyed, and without any humanitarian assistance the people face starvation.
The Indonesian army is denying access even to the Church. It is feared that the military is training militia groups to carry out intimidation and attacks just as they did in East Timor.
