New Zealand Medals Posters.
Chief of Defence Force Air Marshal Bruce Ferguson today announced that the New Zealand Defence Force has produced a set
of two New Zealand Medals Posters.
“The first poster features New Zealand Medals, while the second features British and Foreign Medals awarded to New
Zealand military personnel. In all, over 100 New Zealand, British, United Nations and other foreign medals and ribbons
are featured on the set of full-colour posters.”
“The Defence Force has begun issuing complimentary sets of the posters to all Returned Services Association clubs and
branches, public libraries, museums and archives in New Zealand, and internally within the Defence Force. Interested
persons will be able to purchase sets of the posters through selected museums, including the New Zealand Army Museum at
Waiouru, the Royal New Zealand Air Force Museums at Wigram and Ohakea, and the Royal New Zealand Navy Museum at
Devonport. Proceeds from the sale of these posters will be used by these museums for the preservation of New Zealand’s
military heritage.”
“The posters will compliment the New Zealand Defence Force Medals website (www.nzdf.mil.nz/medals), which went “live”
last December. This website contains information on, and images of, over 120 medals awarded to New Zealand military
personnel from the 1840s to the present day. Together, the posters and the website provide an important information
resource for currently serving military personnel, veterans, students, family researchers, and others with an interest
in current military service and New Zealand’s military history.”
“The posters and the website are a valuable addition to the large number of medals initiatives the government has
undertaken in the last four years.”
