FreeZaoui.org.nz marks one year of operation.
FreeZaoui.org.nz has now been operating for year. Ahmed Zaoui remains imprisoned in New Zealand, still without trial.
“This website will continue to operate until Ahmed Zaoui is freed, or at the very least given a fair trial” said Alex Davidson, the site's creator
“Over the past year the NZ Government has failed to live up to its stated commitment to “create and sustain a world leading human rights environment” and instead shown a willingness to abandon these high ideals in favour of blame shifting and rear-end covering.”
“At any time the Government can demonstrate the courage and strength to correct their initial mistakes. Instead we have seen a continuing refusal to tackle the issues, a refusal to speak openly about the case and even a grimly desperate attempt to prevent Ahmed Zaoui himself from speaking to the media”
“We renew our call for our Government to do the right thing and either release Ahmed Zaoui or provide a fair and just trial.”
