You try saving with these taxes!
In response to Dr Cullen and Peter Harris's proposal that the IRD "help workers save," Libertarianz mayoral hopeful for
Hamilton Tim Wikiriwhi says the chief reason it is presently so hard for workers to save money is because "thieving
politicians steal a huge proportion of their income, and then squander it buying votes and propping up their socialist
regime."
Wikiriwhi tells Cullen and Harris if they really want to help workers to save money then they could begin by keeping
their hands out of workers' pay packets, and then continue by removing all the stealth taxes from the small luxuries of
the working class - beer and smokes. This way, says Wikiriwhi, "not only will workers be able to pursue their own
happiness at less cost, but will also be able to bank more if they so choose."
In response to Harris's gripe about workers debt levels in housing, Wikiriwhi retorts that it is government that is
largely contributing to the high cost of housing. "Remove all your foolish building and planning regulations that add
thousands to the cost of a house; and remove the accommodation supplemement that simply helps to raise rents and give
landlords a nice subsidy, and then watch investment in housing come back. That would free up capital to invest
elsewhere, and also raise everyone's standards of living into the bargain!
Wikiriwhi concludes "Stop trying to run people's lives! Big Government is the monkey on workers' backs keeping them so
close to the breadline. More of this same poison is not the cure!"
