Te Mängai Päho Appointment
The Chairman of Te Mängai Päho, Wira Gardiner, today announced that the Board has appointed John Bishara as its new chief executive. Mr Bishara, of Tuwharetoa descent, is an experienced public sector manager whose previous roles include managing regional operations for the Department of Work and Income, and heading Te Puni Kokiri’s regional operations and funding portfolio.
Mr Bishara’s appointment signals the end of Te Mängai Päho’s interim management arrangements. Mr Gardiner says that Te Mängai Päho is in good shape. “The Board has set in place a clear direction for the agency, and has worked hard to strengthen its relationship with its Minister and with industry stakeholders,” he said.
“The Board was pleased by the level of interest shown in its chief executive position, and is delighted to have John on board,” said Mr Gardiner. “John offers Te Mängai Päho real strengths in successfully managing funding operations and in working effectively with diverse audiences, from the grassroots to senior public service and ministerial levels” he said.
Mr Bishara is currently completing a project role with the Ministry of Fisheries and will commence his new role on 4 October 2004.
