Destiny NZ More Than Black T-Shirts
A woman linking Monday's Enough is Enough t-shirts to human rights issues in China has found an ally with Destiny NZ's
Finance Spokesman, David Jesze.
In a release issued by Judith Bell from MADENZ aka "Stephen Tindall - the woman", Bell argued against free trade and the
black t-shirts donned in the EIE campaign, which were made in China.
"It's great to see Judith making such a passionate stand for New Zealand made products," says Jesze. "Genuine support of
New Zealand business is one of the top priorities for Destiny NZ."
"We consider sound Family and Economics Policies to be vital for a prosperous and successful country. When it comes to
free trade, Destiny New Zealand recognises that neither of the extreme positions, be it free trade nor fair trade alone,
really offer a strong foundation for long-term success. Only a healthy balance of "free and fair trade" will allow New
Zealand businesses and the macro-economy to thrive."
Jesze says NZ's trade deficit is on a record level and as a small nation, brings limited bargaining power to the
negotiation table with China.
"I seriously question the reasoning behind us being the first western nation to make this commitment. This decision is
based more on political motives rather than sound economic arguments."
Destiny New Zealand's key economic policies are based on wealth creation compared to the government's philosophy of
over-the-top wealth redistribution. Jesze says it's important to promote an environment where hard work and success is
rewarded - not discouraged or punished.
"Economics begins firstly in the home because it's a small domestic economy that impacts directly on national
prosperity. Destiny NZ is committed to lowering corporate and personal tax rates with the long-term goal of a flat tax
rate. Also high on our priority list is genuine support for our exporters, which really are the backbone of the NZ
economy. We aim to create an environment that promotes and celebrates business and export success."
