Award for Sharon Crosbie
17 August 2004 - Broadcaster Sharon Crosbie OBE is congratulated by Governor-General Dame Silvia Cartwright on being made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit. Her citation reads: For services to broadcasting and the community. Sharon Crosbie joined Radio New Zealand in 1969 and worked in various areas of television and radio and was appointed chief executive in 1995, a position she held until 2004. She was awarded a Harkness Fellowship and a Neiman Fellowship in journalism at Harvard University in 1984. She has been chairperson of the New Zealand Drama School, a 1990 Commissioner, a member of the New Zealand-Japan Foundation, a member of the Women’s Refuge Foundation Trust Board and was chairperson of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Core Health Services.
