NZ Army Supports Thai Prime Minister Welcome To Parliament
The New Zealand Army today supported an official welcome to Parliament for His Excellency Dr Thaksin Shinawatra, Prime
Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand.
The Prime Minister was met by the Army’s Kapa Haka group on Parliament’s forecourt and then inspected the 50 person
Guard of Honour, mounted by 2nd Engineer Regiment, while the Army band played the National Anthem of Thailand and the
Thai flag was raised.
Prime Minister Thaksin then presented members of his party to Prime Minister Helen Clark and the Honourable Jim Sutton
before being escorted up the main steps of Parliament House.
At the same time a Prime Ministerial Salute of 19 guns commenced at Point Jerningham.
