Destiny NZ, 'Your Power is in the Home' AUCKLAND
An enthusiastic crowd of more than 800 people turned out for Destiny New Zealand's 'Your Power is in the Home' meeting
in Auckland last night.
Party Leader Richard Lewis released the latest round of Destiny NZ policies.
"Fatherlessness and family breakdown in my view are the most serious issue facing our nation today. Destiny NZ is the
only party that has a dedicated Family Policy. This Policy is interwoven throughout all of our policies. Destiny NZ is
also the only party that has set a clear benchmark and definition for the family - that being a family centred on a
marriage covenant between a man and a woman."
"Who would have thought we'd have to go so far as to define the 'male' and 'female' components of a family as being a
'man' born a male and a 'woman' born a female. If such confusion reigns in our own Government, what hope has a
generation seeking leadership and direction? I believe every political party should present their definition for family
to the voting public before the next election given its fundamental role in society. If there has ever been a time to
uphold a benchmark when it comes to families, it is now. The institution of marriage stands alone. It should be
protected, esteemed and supported in every way."
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of 35 Destiny NZ delegates on a pathway to candidacy, providing clear
evidence that the Party was on target to achieving significant representation at the 2005 election. The delegates cover
electorates from Otago to Northland. Referring to the delegates, the party leader emphasised the strong unity factor
born out of its Christian founding values and pro-family policies.
"Nobody understands the principles of covenant and stewardship like we do - principles that need to be recovered in our
nation today. If you are looking for a model of unity amongst Maori and non-Maori, look no further," he added.
The Party announced its full support for the Destiny Church initiated 'mass gathering' being planned for Monday 23rd
