LINZ website tops independent survey
Property owners, property professionals and other Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) customers can take heart from the
department's strong showing in an independent website survey.
Private company E-Gov Watch ranks LINZ's website (www.linz.govt.nz) number one overall, in a recent assessment of 25
Government Internet sites.
The LINZ site scored highly for information delivery, e-services delivery, accessibility and usability, in the survey.
LINZ is a major Government e-services provider with its world-first Landonline survey and property title service and its
basic 'product' is information, says Debbie Ward, LINZ Information Solutions Manager.
"LINZ holds authoritative information about land surveys and ownership, topographic maps and nautical charts. We make
sure that the rating valuation system is fair and consistent and oversee the buying and disposal of Crown land.
At LINZ we're committed to delivering our services online and making more and more land information available via the
Internet.
On the LINZ site, our customers can download a range of aerial photos and maps for free, search a database of official
place names and find the exact geographical locations, access the latest tidal predictions and sunset/sunrise times,
order a copy of a land record, check the progress of Tenure Review, find the location of survey marks and of course read
all our publications."
LINZ will analyse the results of the e-Gov Watch survey and continue to develop its website, Debbie says.
"We're always looking to find more ways to get better at delivering e-services and information. The E-Gov Watch results
are pleasing but we recognise the need to continually review the way we do things. Our aim is to be the Government's
centre of land information and expertise."
LINZ has also recently re-developed its e-services Landonline site (www.landonline.govt.nz) based on customer research,
to help lawyers and surveyors make the move to 'electronic lodgement (e-lodgement)'.
E-lodgement comprises two basic services: e-dealing and e-survey. Landonline e-dealing enables lawyers and conveyancers
to prepare and lodge routine conveyancing dealings online via their own PC. Landonline e-survey allows surveyors to
digitally prepare and submit cadastral surveys directly with LINZ from their own office using the Landonline workspace.
