EMERGENCY PROTEST this Friday in solidarity with activists in Guadalajara, Mexico - PASS IT ON
Kia ora koutou,
PROTEST this Friday in solidarity with activists in Guadalajara, Mexico
As you might have read on www.Indymedia.org, police brutality has been outrageous against demonstrators who protested against the meeting of leaders of the European Union, Caribbean and Latin American countries in Guadalajara, Mexico, last weekend.
Over 100 activists and bystanders have been arrested and many were injured. Protesters are being held in 5 different jails and 2 different hospitals and the authorities have refused to release their names . Witnesses in the jails have reported torture inside the jail. Women have been forced to strip naked, and men have been brutally beaten while handcuffed on the ground. Nine of the people being held are foreigners, one of them severely injured. Her physical condition is unknown and no visitors, including lawyers, have been allowed to visit any detainees.
This Friday, 4th June, is International Day of Action for the imprisoned and injured activists. Please join a protest at 12.30 pm at the Mexican Embassy, 111 Customhouse Quay, Wellington. Bring placards (we'll have a flyer to hand out).
OUR DEMANDS:
1) Unconditional freedom for all the political detainees
2) Drop all charges
3) No more harassment, torture, beatings or arrests
4) Proper medical treatment for injured detainees
5) Safe passage home for all activists
The people united will never be defeated.
Today human beings of whatever country they belong, should on the one side propagate an anti-exploitation sentiment
(exploitation does not mean exploitation in the economic sphere only, it includes all sorts of exploitation), and form a strong nation in their respective countries; and on the other side they should preach the theory of one spiritual inheritance - that every living being is the child of the Supreme Entity and that all the people of the world belong to the same family.....Along with the theory of spiritual inheritance one Cosmic Ideology will also have to be adopted and that ideology is that one Supreme Entity - the Cosmic Entity - is the goal of all living beings. This spiritual sentiment will keep human beings united for all time to come." P. R. Sarkar 1.1.60
