Governor-General To Travel To Solomon Islands

Governor-General to visit Solomon Islands
The Governor-General Dame Silvia Cartwright will embark on an official State Visit to the Solomon Islands next week.
The visit will underline New Zealand's commitment to the ongoing development of the Solomon Islands and is a significant marker of progress toward the normalisation of the security situation there.
During the 3-day visit, the Governor-General will meet political leaders of the island nation, will visit New Zealand Defence Force personnel and police forces stationed in the Solomons and also visit NZAID projects.
Dame Silvia will attend an official State Dinner hosted by Governor-General Sir Fr. John Ini Lapli and will meet the Acting Prime Minister, Snyder Rini. She will meet New Zealand Defence Force soldiers and police and will visit Guadalcanal province.
During her stay Dame Silvia will also meet members of the legal fraternity and will visit the NZAID-funded Christian Care Centre Women's Refuge.
During the absence of the Governor-General from 17 May to 21 May, the President of the Court of Appeal, Hon Justice Anderson, will act as Administrator of Government.
