Destiny NZ Unveils Political Policies In Nelson:
Education, Civil Union Bill and Economics.
Political party Destiny New Zealand presented its key policies in Nelson on the weekend and congratulated many parents
attending for a recent report which rated Nelson school children as being among the best behaved in the country.
Talking to an audience of nearly 100 locals, Destiny New Zealand Education spokesperson, Anne Williamson, said the
Destiny NZ education policy combined the virtues of academic, vocational skills and character excellence.
"It is essential that academic achievement is underpinned by healthy character. Identity and destiny, attitudinal
development, health, economics, leadership and vision should be included in primary school curriculums", said
Williamson.
Party leader, Richard Lewis, outlined their dedicated 'family' policy, which aims to restore a marriage culture.
"Many people are not aware that accompanying the pending Civil Union Bill, which effectively legalises 'same sex
marriage', is a second Bill tagged the 'Omnibus Bill'," said Lewis. "This Bill rewrites some 160 pieces of legislation
eliminating the words 'husband', 'wife' and 'marriage' primarily to accommodate same-sex unions. This development
blatantly undermines everything that our nation has traditionally stood for in terms of family life and family values."
"This sort of legislation attacks the very foundations and building blocks of our society. Destiny New Zealand's vision
for families boldly and unashamedly restores and upholds the marriage benchmark for New Zealand families, and that being
a marriage between a 'man' and a 'woman'," he said.
Finance spokesperson David Jesze also presented policy pointers on economics and small business. He said Destiny New
Zealand was a business friendly party that supports wealth creation and provide incentives to do well instead of
punishing success.
"Key pillars are the financial empowerment of our families, the lowering of corporate and personal tax rates, a
dedicated Exporters Support Policy and a formalized cohesion between business and education sectors", he added.
Destiny New Zealand was launched last July and plans to stand candidates in many electorates throughout the country at
the next election. The party has already held public meetings throughout the North Island and will hold its next public
meeting in Wellington this weekend.
