The Auckland based Palestine Human Rights Campaign deplores the support of President Bush for Israeli Prime Minister Sharon's plans to annex Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian lands and for denying Palestinians their inalienable Right of Return.
By publicly endorsing Sharon's plans, Bush has pre-empted as no other American President before him any negotiated settlement of the Palestine Israel conflict. His deplorable support has pulled the rug from under any future Palestinian negotiator by denying Palestinian rights and demands before talks start.
Time will show that this folly of Bush, like his invasion and occupation of Iraq, will contribute to the rise of anti-Americanism in the Arab and Moslem worlds. However, the Palestine Human Rights Campaign will not be surprised to hear President Bush complaining yet again that there still are people who hate America and are ready to threaten American interests and security at home and abroad.
Palestinians and their supporters worldwide confirm the longheld belief that Bush had his sights on pleasing both the Jewish lobby and Christian fundamentalists and this year hoping to secure their votes in the next presidential elections.
