Air NZ strike called off
Last-minute talks have averted a strike by more than 1000 members of the EPMU at Air New Zealand Engineering Services.
An overtime ban had been in place since Tuesday, and a full strike was due to start on Monday over the renegotiation of
the engineers’ collective agreement.
The company was seeking the right to move day workers to shiftwork and vice versa.
Union national secretary Andrew Little said that the settlement came when Air New Zealand withdrew that claim and other
clawbacks, and offered a better wage increase.
“On the basis of that, a majority of EPMU members voted to accept the offer,” Mr Little said.
