Tom Dowie Hunger Strike ‘Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner, Annette ?’
“I am heading to Wellington to get Annette King to show some accountability in regards to listening to the people’s desire to retain Queen Mary Hospital” says Tom Dowie, on day 10 of his hunger strike at the Canterbury District Health Board’s decision to sell the site of the former Queen Mary Hospital.
“I am grateful for the support of the many hundreds of people who have signed the petition in support of retaining the Hospital land”, says Mr Dowie. “It is now time to take this message to Wellington so that the powers that be can no longer ignore it”.
Mr Dowie will be present tomorrow at Parliament steps from 10am to seek support for the Hospital as well as possibly attending Minister King’s electorate office to speak to her directly. “It is a shame that the Minister has been unwilling to talk to me on the phone about this, leaving me no alternative but to bring this important message to Parliament.”
