Ron Mark's Psychotic Approach To 'P'
Libertarianz Deputy Stephen Berry is highly critical of remarks that NZ First MP Ron Mark makes in regard to Asian
students allegedly importing pseudoephydrine pills. "Mark's call advocates the racial profiling of visitors to New
Zealand - if voters needed any further evidence of the xenophobia of New Zealand First, they now have it," says Berry.
New Zealand First called for the searching of 'all Asian students' as an extra step to crack down on 'P'. Says a
disugusted Berry: "To advocate a policy of searching all members of a particular race is disturbingly close to nazism.
Mark's 'Asian psyschosis' is however only a natural extension of the increasingly hysterical War on Drugs."
"Mark's call to demonise Asian students clearly demonstrates where the War on Drugs is heading," says Berry. "The War on
Drugs is an immoral and unwinnable fight against users, manufacturers and suppliers. The demonisation only encourages
further criminalisation, it does not diminsh it. The prohibition of 'P' should be ended immediately instead of
continuing with the hysteria. I made the point in a speech at the recent J Day, that if alcohol prohibition failed and
cannabis prohibition continues to fail, then why the hell does anyone expect 'P' prohibition to work? It won't. It will
instead just encourage more hysteria, and more Marks-isms."
Libertarianz is the only party recognising that drug prohibition never succeeds in its aims. Berry says there are two
clear cut choices for the voters. "You could cheer on fascists who will jail you for choosing to ingest 'forbidden'
substances, who will search you at every pportunity, and who manage only to increase the harms of drug use.
Alternatively you could recognise that what people put into their own bodies is their own business and that the only way
a government should deal with drugs is to legalise them."
