New Zealand Territorials Join Forces With Australian Counterparts For Two-Week Training Exercise
New Zealand Army Territorial Force soldiers and officers will join forces with their Australian counterparts for a two-week training exercise on New Zealand’s West Coast from 1-14 February 2004.
They will be supported by a number of Regular Force personnel from Burnham Military Camp and by the Air Force. Up to 398 Defence Force personnel will be involved.
Exercise Tasman Reserve gives New Zealand Territorials the opportunity to work alongside Australian forces in a battalion environment while developing light infantry skills in restricted terrain and forested areas (close country).
A reciprocal exercise, also involving New Zealand Territorials, will be taking place in New South Wales at the same time.
The main purpose of the exercises is to develop experience by training in varied and diverse environments.
